Fetal/Maternal Health Program
The College of Medicine’s signature interdisciplinary program in Child and Women’s Health advances understanding of maternal and fetal diseases. USF clinicians deliver diagnoses and therapy for life-threatening disorders in unborn babies and for pregnancies complicated by maternal and fetal diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The college seeks to build an endowment to recruit leaders in maternal-fetal medicine and enhance its vital work in research and care, improving outcomes for mothers and infants.
Global Health Research Program
USF Health is expanding the reach of its research, education and health care initiatives to address shared health challenges around the globe. The college seeks funding to support international health care experiences for our students and faculty and to broaden our global health research program. Community contributions can help with developing treatment for deadly diseases and alleviating health disparities for our neighbors worldwide.
Wellness and Prevention Program
The USF Wellness Initiative provides our employees with a variety of health-focused activities based on our core values to improve life by looking at the full spectrum of health. The college seeks to extend this program to the community. Private contributions will support interactive and educational programs that emphasize proactive health care. The USF Wellness Initiative is an opportunity to invest in a healthier community enjoying a better quality of life.
Biomedical Science Building
The college’s bold research objectives require additional facilities to enhance our research capacity. Private gifts, including those associated with naming opportunities, will support constructing the new Biomedical Science Tower and equipping pre-clinical trial facilities, surgical suites and laboratories for basic science and translational research.
Infectious Disease Program
The Florida Infectious Disease Center at the College of Medicine is a resource for infectious disease identification, prevention and treatment. Faculty members oversee tissue banking, analyze policy, deliver clinical care, provide specialized training to health professionals, and conduct research on bioterrorism and emerging new pathogens along with well-known diseases like tuberculosis and HIV. The center seeks to increase funding to carry out its ongoing mission to improve human health by minimizing the dangers of infectious diseases.
Neurosciences Research Program
The College of Medicine has one of the nation’s top neuroscience research programs, with particular interest in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders, mental health and cognition. The college seeks to enhance laboratory and clinical drug research while delivering excellent diagnosis and treatment services. Private contributions can help take advantage of recent scientific advances and provide great opportunities for USF scientists to develop novel therapies for neurological diseases.
Center for Advanced Clinical Learning and Simulation
Excellent clinical skills are central to excellent patient care. The college’s Center for Advanced Clinical Learning and Simulation houses state-of-the art exam rooms, including human simulators, to create real-life patient-care scenarios in a safe, controlled environment. To amplify hands-on clinical training and evaluation, the center seeks funding to expand training facilities and purchase equipment including technology upgrades. Private support will create a stronger learning environment and help reduce errors in medical practice.
Diabetes Research Program
The College of Medicine is at the center of the university’s ambitious initiative to establish a nationally prominent program in diabetes and autoimmune disorders. USF is strategically positioned to create an integrated program for controlling and treating diabetes and aggressively working toward its eradication. Private donations and additional endowments will support a multi-use clinical research center and diabetes education center at USF Health. This includes recruiting an interdisciplinary team of basic, translational and clinical researchers, educators, physician-scientists and health care professionals. The USF: Unstoppable Campaign is an opportunity for our community to be part of the science that leads to a cure.
Musculoskeletal Medicine
The College of Medicine is building a multidisciplinary program in musculoskeletal medicine. Our orthopedic and sports medicine experts examine issues from heat illness and sudden cardiac death in athletes to injury prevention and surgical repair strategies. The college seeks to build an endowment to support the program’s ongoing work, which includes training students to be the best in orthopedic surgery, providing patient care, and generating the latest science and technology in musculoskeletal medicine.
Full Academic Scholarships
The College of Medicine is a first choice for students who want to be leaders. In 2011, the college will enroll the first class for our new health care leadership track. The college needs to build a scholarship source to assist in offsetting the additional tuition cost for students in this program. Endowments for full academic scholarships for the leadership track, as well as our traditional medical program, amplify the college’s efforts to recruit highly qualified students and enhance diversity among the student body.

The true measure of any university is the caliber of its faculty. They bring ideas to life in the classroom, innovate in the clinical environment and create critical partnerships within the community. Retention and recruitment of innovative and inspiring faculty is a top priority for the college. Endowed faculty positions are the single most powerful tool available for attracting and retaining the world’s leading-edge thinkers, clinicians and teachers, who in turn attract other outstanding faculty and students.
