The University of South Florida’s Alumni Association creates and maintains a life-long connection between the university and its alumni, who number more than 224,000 graduates. In collaboration with an extremely dedicated volunteer board of directors, the Alumni Association works to connect alumni, support students and build an unstoppable university experience through a diversity of events, programming and services.
Vision and Priorities
Working together with USF alumni from all over the country and around the world, the USF Alumni Association is becoming a more powerful and influential arm of the university. In addition to keeping the alumni informed about and engaged with their alma mater, the Alumni Association finds ways to enrich both the personal and professional lives of alumni and create a vibrant alumni community for new USF graduates to enter. The USF Alumni Association will also find more ways to tap the strengths, talents, resources and connections of its members to advocate for and advance the mission of USF. With greater support from alumni through the Alumni Association and its volunteers, USF will be unstoppable.
With generous funding through the USF: Unstoppable Campaign, the USF Alumni Association will bring national recognition to the University of South Florida and its alumni. This plan includes several powerful giving opportunities.
Alumni Outreach
Building Membership. The university’s alumni are its lasting legacy and strongest voice. Finding new ways to build an engaged membership base is integral to raising USF’s national profile. Joining the USF Alumni Association is one of the easiest ways to give back to the university and can serve as a springboard for further involvement. Funds raised for outreach will enable the association to grow its membership base by expanding current communications efforts and alumni services.
Communication. Keeping alumni who are based locally, nationally and internationally aware of USF’s many goals and accomplishments is vital to maintaining a strong connection. Alumni can easily get the latest USF news and events in a variety of forms: from our Web site at www.USFalumni.org; in the quarterly Alumni Voice magazine and via monthly AlumNews e-newsletters. New funding for these communications efforts will allow the association to enrich the lives of more alumni, creating stronger networks and affinities.
Rewarding Academic Achievement through Scholarships
It is incumbent upon USF to mold students and young alumni into creative thinkers and strong leaders. Doing so serves the individual as well as the university. With financial support from our generous alumni benefactors, the USF Alumni Association has created scholarships and leadership programs that reward academic excellence, recognize individual perseverance and foster leadership skills that will last a lifetime. Additional support will make more opportunities available for more talented young USF constituents.
Building an Unstoppable Organization
Involvement and Services. Developing an active and engaged alumni network empowers both the university and its graduates. Whether our alumni are interacting online through the Bulls Country Network, attending USFAA events, working on a university committee or serving as volunteers, their contributions make a difference to USF and the community. The Alumni Association continues to seek innovative ways to serve alumni by providing social, educational and professional opportunities that appeal to our broad constituency.
Leadership Development. The Alumni Association’s growth depends on its ability to identify and recruit committed alumni volunteers and qualified staff. Current volunteers and staff endeavor to bring new faces into the organization and provide these new volunteers with meaningful opportunities to help shape the future of the association. An annual Alumni Academy offers guidance to these volunteers in how to best serve their university while building a legacy of engagement and advocacy.
Brand Recognition. The emergence of the University of South Florida as a Research I institution is an important step in USF’s journey toward international prominence. As our profile increases, so does the value of each USF degree. A flourishing Alumni Association is a significant part of the university’s identity and a symbol of its status among the nation’s elite institutions of higher education. Support for the programs of the USF Alumni Association ultimately becomes support for the university. All alumni and friends of USF can play a role in its success.
