Goswami Joins Pan American Academy of Engineering
TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 21, 2009) University of South Florida professor and pioneering energy researcher Yogi Goswami has been inducted into the Pan American Academy of Engineering in Mexico City in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of engineering.
Goswami was noted for his ground-breaking work in the area of solar energy utilization. Goswami, who is co-director of USF’s Clean Energy Research Center, was presented with the academy’s Member Medallion at a recent ceremony.
The Pan American Academy of Engineering (Academia Panamericana de Ingeniería) was founded in Panama in 2000, by the Pan American Federation of Engineering Societies in recognition that in the Americas, social progress and economic welfare depends largely on the intelligent use of technology.
The University of South Florida System is one of the nation's top 63 public research universities and one of 39 community-engaged, four-year public universities as designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. USF was awarded $380.4 million in research contracts and grants in FY 2008/2009.
