USF Design / Build Program Wins Award
TAMPA, Fla. (June 1, 2009) -- The Hillsborough County Planning Commission recently presented its Award of Excellence in the “Green Projects” category to the USF Design / Build Program for its design and construction of the Temple Terrace Riverfront Park pavilion.
The award was presented to USF Design / Build program director Stanley Russell and students Adam Barbosa, Wes Bradley, Jana Buchter, Sarah Deardorf, Matt Gaboury, Jason Novisk Jessica Phillips, Shane Ross, Alec Smith, Javier Valencia, Erica Williams, Alberto Roriguez, and George Scarfe.
The award-winning structure, made from natural and recycled materials, was cited for its environmentally friendly aspects. Russell and his students worked with city officials to complete the unique structure in just nine months.
The planning commission’s awards program invites submissions from planners, architects, builders, developers, residents, community groups, and local governments that provide examples of sound planning and good design in Hillsborough County.
