Emergency Siren Installation, Test Week of May 4

TAMPA, Fla. (April 30, 2009) – The Office of Public Safety has announced that USF is in the late stages of installing an Emergency Notification System (ENS) on the Tampa campus.

The ENS consists of eight emergency warning stations, each with a siren, loudspeaker and clear strobe light.

During the week of May 4, an important wiring installation will take place. There may be some related noise during this process, to include chimes, short siren blasts, or voice tests on the loudspeakers. Workers will attempt to keep related disruptions to a minimum.

Once the ENS installation is completed, basic information will be disseminated to the university community, to include a public demonstration facilitated by President Genshaft and other campus leaders, which is scheduled to take place early in the fall semester.
